In a hole in the ground, there lived a Hobbit.

location: Oxford, Oxfordshire
weather: crisp and sunny
mood: tired, but happy
food: n/a yet
time on public transport: 2h25
artefacts seen: Oxford!!!!!

impressions: Despite the rough week it's been, and hopefully Simon hasn't run screaming since I request a change in topic, I decided to escape to Oxford for the Day (or, in Shelley-land, Mecca). If Cambridge made me want to cry in sadness, Oxford wants to make me cry with joy.

I love it, I love it, I love it.

I'm going to take one of the tours at the Bodleian(!) at 2, and that gets me into the School of Divinity, the Medieval Library, the Radcliffe Camera, etc, etc, etc. After I've printed off my return ticket to London at the internet cafe I'm sitting in, I'm going to go find Merton and Magdalen Colleges. Actually, Merton is just down the street opposite me, and Magdalen is right next door. I can see how Hobbiton was created in this place, and the Shire from driving through the outskirts. This place is beautiful. If only the School of English hadn't been so snobby when I was enquiring.

There is just so much to take in, and so many places to go. Finally, out of London, and into England (bar the tourists, like me) - I can really see the country and the people. And wow. It's good to be here. All it took was two weeks.

Now, to do what I need to online, and explore some more. This place is fabulous.
